John V. Prunskis, M.D. FIPP

John V. Prunskis, M.D. FIPP, is one of Illinois’ most esteemed interventional pain specialists. Dr. Prunskis is a presidential appointee to the Department of Health and Human Services’ Best Practices Pain Task Force in Washington, D.C., to establish national standards for the treatment of pain where he currently serves when not seeing patients.

Dr. Prunskis is an 12-time winner of the Castle Connolly Top Pain Doctor  Award as voted by his peers (1999, 2003, 2004, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021), and has been honored as a US News and World Report Top Top Physician. Board certified in anesthesiology, pain management and achieving the highest distinction for an interventional pain physician as a Fellow in Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP), Dr. Prunskis is founder and co-Medical Director of Illinois Pain & Spine Institute and is a Clinical Professor at Chicago Medical School.

He earned his medical degree at Rush Medical College of Chicago and completed his anesthesiology residency and fellowship training at the University of Chicago. He is an examiner for the interventional pain certification examination and a clinical professor at Chicago Medical School.

A frequent lecturer, Dr. Prunskis is a past Secretary of the Illinois Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and is an active member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, American Pain Society, McHenry County Medical Society (past president), the International Spinal Injection Society and the Illinois State Medical Society (past delegate).

Dr. Prunskis has also been elected to his third term representing Lithuanian-Americans in Lithuanian Parliament. His hobbies include reading, snow skiing, exercise and anything with four tires and an engine.

Vitas J. Mockaitis has 32 years of experience handling Illinois workers’ compensation claims.  Respected as a leading trial lawyer, Vitas has briefed and successfully argued many cases before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission during the course of his distinguished career.

With his extensive knowledge and experience in workers’ compensation law and related fields of legal practice, Mr. Mockaitis has presented numerous seminars on the theme of injured workers’ rights and benefits, addressing unions and labor organizations throughout the state of Illinois.  In addition, he has authored and co-authored several guidebooks and information pamphlets concerning workers’ compensation issues as they relate to injured workers in Illinois.  Subjects of the publications have included repetitive trauma and overuse injuries and injured workers’ medical rights, among other topics.
